Car leasing FAQs

You're responsible for keeping the car serviced in line with the manufacturer's schedule, but you can add an optional maintenance package to your lease that covers routine servicing and wear items. Drivers find this the easiest option as it removes unexpected bills and means you always know where you stand with running costs.

Yes. Anyone can drive your leased car as long as they're a named driver on your fully comprehensive insurance policy. The insurance is your responsibility to arrange, but the rules around who can drive are the same as if you'd bought the car.

At the end of your contract, the finance company will collect the car from you, so there's no drop-off hassle on your end. Before collection day, it's worth giving the car a once-over and getting any minor repairs sorted, as fixing things yourself is almost always cheaper than any charges applied at inspection. What counts as acceptable is clearly defined in the BVRLA's fair wear and tear guide. Once it's collected, you're done, free to walk away or get straight into your next lease.

The excess mileage charge is far less alarming than most people expect. If you do go over, you'll pay a small pence per mile rate on just the miles over your limit, typically between 10p and 30p per mile, and that rate is agreed and shown to you upfront before you sign anything.

Yes, LeaseCar sources vehicles directly from the UK manufacturer dealer network, so you're getting a genuine brand-new car. Occasionally a car may be pre-registered to secure better pricing, but it's still an undriven, factory-fresh vehicle. Free delivery to your door is included on all UK mainland leases.
